Emergency Relief Fund AND COVID-19 Response FAQ

Find answers to common questions about MCCC's Emergency Relief Fund and how it is assisting students during the COVID-19 crisis.

Meeting Student Needs in Crisis

The Emergency Relief Fund enables MCCC to direct financial support wherever it is needed the most.  In this time of great uncertainty due to COVID-19, flexibility and speed of delivery are key to getting financial support to our students to keep them enrolled and focused on their studies.  Help us provide desperately needed relief to our students by donating to our Emergency Relief Fund.

Unlike traditional scholarships, flexible tuition support offers financial relief to students at the point of need and often helps students pay for expenses beyond tuition, 费用和书籍. With maximum flexibility, tuition support relies on the expertise of financial aid and advising staff to identify at-risk students and offer financial support to improve their chance of success.

最近, The Foundation at MCCC made an initial $50,000 in flexible scholarship support available to students in the current winter semester who may now be experiencing financial distress related to the COVID-19 public health emergency.

The Student Emergency Fund assists MCCC students facing unforeseen, one-time emergency expenses that may disrupt their education, such as a home fire or theft. After tragedy strikes, the Student Emergency Fund helps ensure that a student still has what he or she needs to continue coursework.

MCCC uses the Student Emergency Fund to make direct payments to utility providers, purchase gas and food cards, replace stolen academic supplies, or fill any other short term financial need that may arise.  This fund has been an instrumental tool as we help equip students for the stay at home order in response to COVID-19 and transition their learning to an online environment.
